The Brews Sampled and Our Favorites
Looking for something to do in Gainesville, Texas? We recently visited and taste tested craft beers at one of the best breweries in Gainesville, Texas. The brewery is named Krootz Brewing Company.
Krootz Brewery carries 11-13 standard brews along with two or three rotators and experimental brews. They also offer Softshine and Krootz-A-Ritas on the menu, but we did not sample either.
As you may know I prefer the darker style, and my wife leans toward the hazy IPA.
The waitstaff generously allowed us to sample several brews rather than ordering a flight.
My wife sampled the:
· Strawberry Wheat
· Got A Gig – IPA
· Badass Rockin – Juicy hazy Pale Ale
I sampled the :
· BT Justice – Vanilla Porter
· Double Pumper – Imperial Milk Stout
· Krootz Lite – Cream Ale
They were out of the Peanut Butter Porter! I imagine that it must have been good.
My favorite was the BT Justice vanilla porter. For the afternoon was a Badass (Rockin juicy hazy pale ale). We both shared a Lake Trash blonde ale before we had to get back on the road.
Brewery Ambiance
The inside has a few different sections. One area has pool tables, one has tables in front of an indoor stage, covered outdoor picnic tables which are dog friendly, and the main bar are with plenty of seating for drinks or food. We arrived just as the lunch crowd was finishing up, and the main area was full of patrons enjoying lunch.
The inside has a small town, neighborhood establishment feel to it. Patrons knew each other, and the waitstaff knew the patrons. There were comfy chairs to sink into by the wood burning stove, and some table large enough to support an after work party. Very casual and comfortable.
Food
We tried the Badass Nachos which comes with their homemade Beer Cheese. Excellent. Then we split a Mac and Cheese. Again Excellent.
Merchandise
They offer a small selection of t-shirts for sale. Different colors with the same Krootz Brewing logo.
About the Authors
When I first started dating my wife, we enjoyed popular domestic beers. I am sure visiting a craft brewery was her idea. Our taste buds rejoiced as we sampled the various brews. It did not take long before our tastes diverted – the darker ambers, reds, porters, and stouts for me, IPA, Hazy IPA, and pilsners for her.
When we retired, we decided to visit as many of our National Parks across this country. It seemed a natural fit to visit breweries in the many cities we travel through as we drive to the parks.
We currently reside in Fort Worth, Texas. Texas has about 300 micro-breweries, and the Metroplex has over 80. Which means we have a whole lot of day trips ahead of us to visit our local breweries.
